Payment
Payment is due at the beginning of each session. We accept check or cash. Payments for phone sessions or Skype sessions can be made online through Paypal. Your therapist can provide you with the Paypal information.
Cancelation Policy
All appointments must be cancelled over the phone. Due to the sensitivity of cancellations and our schedule availability appointments cannot be cancelled by email.
If you fail to cancel and/or no show to your scheduled appointment, your therapist is required to bill you the full therapy session fee. Not showing up or canceling your appointment with less than 24 notice gives your therapist no opportunity to fill this time with another client. Your therapy session fee must be payed in full prior to scheduling your next appointment with your therapist. Our office will only waive this fee one time as a courtesy to our clients.
We also offer our clients the opportunity to Skype or have a phone session with their therapist, to avoid paying the cancellation fee. Your phone session or Skype session must take place during the time of your scheduled session. Whether you choose to Skype or have a phone session with your therapist, your original in-office rate must be paid to your therapist online, before beginning your therapy session.
How Do I Get Started?
Call 516-360-6157 and have a brief conversation with one of our therapists. You will be able to discuss your therapy needs and get answers for any questions you may have. You will also have the opportunity to set up your first appointment.
How Long is Each Therapy Session?
Individual, Couples, and Family Therapy sessions are 60 minutes. This includes therapy sessions provided in office, on the phone, and Skype. You can always speak with your therapist about increasing the duration time for future therapy sessions.
Office Hours
Our offices are by appointment only. Daytime, evening, and weekend appointments can be scheduled depending on therapists availability.
Medication vs.Psychotherapy
It is well established that the long-term solution to mental and emotional problems and the pain they cause cannot be solved solely by medication. Instead of just treating the symptom, therapy addresses the cause of our distress and the behavior patterns that curb our progress. You can best achieve sustainable growth and a greater sense of well-being with an integrative approach to wellness. Working with your medical doctor you can determine what’s best for you, and in some cases a combination of medication and therapy is the right course of action.
Client Confidentiality
Confidentiality is one of the most important components between a client and psychotherapist. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but the therapist’s office. Your therapist will provide you with a written copy of our confidential disclosure agreement, and you can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. This is called “Informed Consent”. Sometimes, however, you may want your therapist to share information or give an update to someone on your healthcare team (your Physician, Attorney, etc), but by law your therapist cannot release this information without obtaining your written permission.
However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations:
* Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders to the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.
* If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.
